The Kern Law Enforcement Association (KLEA) is proud to announce our continued annual support of Kern County Veterans. On Monday, November 11th, 2024, KLEA is hosting the 15th annual Veteran’s Day Breakfast. We invite all veterans to join us beginning at 6:00 AM at the American Legion Post 26 Hall located at 2020 H Street in downtown Bakersfield.
In 2009, KLEA began our annual Veterans Day Breakfast to honor and recognize the many sacrifices that are made by our local veteran heroes. The first couple of years, the event was held at the KLEA headquarters. Always held on Veterans Day, we soon realized we were competing with the draw of the downtown Veterans Day Parade. In addition to the KLEA location not being centrally located, we recognized we could reach more veterans by a change in venue.
Beginning around year 2012, KLEA partnered with American Legion Post 26 to provide a central downtown location for the event. This has allowed us to serve a large population of local veterans while removing competition from the annual Veterans Day Parade. Over the years, the annual breakfast has grown to the point that we have served over 2000 veterans and their guests in one morning.
Continuing the ongoing tradition, we are once again serving all veterans a free breakfast this year at the American Legion Post 26. Doors open at 6:00 AM, and breakfast will be served until the beginning of the parade. All veterans eat for free. Non-veteran guests are kindly asked to donate $5 per breakfast. All monies collected from the event are donated back to Post 26 to assist in cost recovery for the event and to help fund their many great activities through the year.
If you are a veteran, or know a veteran, please plan to join KLEA as we honor the selfless service to our Country and community. Come enjoy a breakfast platter of pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, orange juice and the ever-popular hot coffee. All meals are prepared, cooked and served by our local Sheriff Deputies, District Attorney Investigators and numerous volunteers.
We hope to see you on Monday November 11th beginning at 6:00 AM at the American Legion Post 26 at 2020 H Street – Thank you for your service!
Tim Caughron
President, Kern Law Enforcement Association.
